Microsoft Quietly Killed Off The Xbox 360 2-Year Contract Plans, Claims It Was An Experiment

Microsoft Quietly Killed Off The Xbox 360 2 Year Contract Plans, Claims It Was An ExperimentIn certain parts of the world, like the US, UK, and Australia, mobile devices are offered at a cheaper price, and sometimes even free, as long as the customer is willing to sign with the carrier for the next 1-2 years, depending on the contract. This ensures that the customer is locked into the service and any attempts to break the contract would result in a penalty.

Interestingly Microsoft attempted something similar with the Xbox 360 a couple of year ago. The company started offering its customers the option of paying $99 for the Xbox 360 along with the Kinect as long as gamers would sign up for an Xbox Live Gold subscription valued at $15 for the next two years. However it looks like Microsoft has not offered that option to Xbox One gamers, and has since revealed that the plan had been scrapped sometime back. (more…)

New Xbox 360 Chrome Controllers Revealed

New Xbox 360 Chrome Controllers RevealedDespite the fact that the Xbox One is Microsoft’s latest console, we’re pretty sure there are still many gamers out there who are holding on to their Xbox 360 units, probably due to the large library of games that they might have amassed over the years, and also probably because the Xbox One is still pretty pricey at $499 and there aren’t too many games available for the platform just yet. However if you’re getting a little tired of your Xbox 360 and you want to spice things up a bit, Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb has revealed that additional colors will be added to the Xbox 360 Special Edition Chrome Series of wireless controllers.

The new colors will be a chrome black finish and a chrome purple finish, both of which look pretty stunning, although the thing with chrome is that it tends to attract a fair amount of fingerprints which is something to take into consideration if you were planning on getting your hands on the controller. The controllers will be priced at $54.99 each although they will be available at different retailers. If the black controller was something you had your eye on, you can expect to find it at Walmart and the Microsoft Store, while the purple controller will be available via Best Buy or the Microsoft Store, with both controllers expected to be available come March.

Annual Xbox Music Pass Nicks You A Free Lumia 520/Lumia 521

Annual Xbox Music Pass Nicks You A Free Lumia 520/Lumia 521We know that we have put the jolly season of Christmas behind us for over a month already, but this does not mean that the spirit of generosity should be stamped out altogether! No sir, Microsoft certainly does not think along that line, and they have in fact introduced a mouthwatering proposal – by giving away a contract-free Nokia Lumia 520 or Nokia Lumia 521 for free as long as you decide to pick up a 12-month Xbox Music Pass. This will not be an ongoing offer indefinitely, since it is part of a limited time promotion. Hence, the usual disclaimers apply here – early bird gets the early worm and all that jazz.
