Verizon Could Offer $100 Credit On New Lines

Verizon Could Offer $100 Credit On New LinesCompetition in the mobile industry is pretty stiff at the moment, with carriers finding all sorts of ways to entice customers to switch from a different carrier and hop aboard their network. It wasn’t too long ago that AT&T was willing to pay up to $450 to make customers switch from T-Mobile. Likewise T-Mobile was also willing to pay ETFs of customers up to $650 for them to make the switch as well, so it isn’t too surprising to learn that Verizon could be offering something similar of their own to entice customers to sign up with their network. This is thanks to a recently leaked memo that was obtained by the folks at Android Central where it appears that Verizon is willing to offer customers $100 in credit towards their bill if they were to sign up for a new line with them within the next 3 weeks.

This promotion is scheduled to kick off on the 7th of February and is expected to last until the 28th of February. Of course the caveat is that you would have to sign a new two-year agreement with the carrier, but if you’re looking for a new phone and a new plan, we reckon this seems like a pretty good deal. The $100 credit will only be applicable towards your third billing cycle, meaning that you will need to stay with the carrier for at least 60 days, which we guess is to ensure customers don’t leave right after getting the discount. In any case Verizon has yet to make the promotion official, but hopefully we will learn more about it the next few hours.

Verizon Pushing Out Android 4.4 For HTC One

Verizon Pushing Out Android 4.4 For HTC OneAs you might have heard back in January, the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the HTC One was delayed for the North American region. According to the open letter that HTC’s Americas President wrote, the delay was due to certification of the update and how it might be delayed for a couple of weeks. Well thankfully the delay wasn’t too long as there have been reports that Verizon’s HTC One has recently started to receive the much-awaited Android 4.4 KitKat update. According to the reports, the update comes in at around 617MB in size and is expected to bring about Android KitKat features along with HTC’s latest version of their Sense UI, Sense 5.5.

For those who were patient enough and did not bother flashing a custom ROM onto their HTC One device, you should be receiving the notification that there is an update ready for you to download. However even if you haven’t, you can attempt to manually pull the update by going to your phone’s Settings, About Device, Check for Updates. For those who have yet to receive the notification, fret not because updates are usually pushed out in phases, so if you did not receive it today, you might receive it tomorrow, or the week after, but rest assured that it is on its way. In the meantime if you have received your update, let us know in the comments below on how it is treating you!

Super Bowl 2014 Attendees On Verizon Used 1.9TB Of Data In Stadium

Super Bowl 2014 Attendees On Verizon Used 1.9TB Of Data In Stadium

It has just been a few days since one of the year’s biggest sporting events was held at the MetLife Stadium, I am of course talking about Super Bowl 2014. Prior to the Big Game, we reported that online video streaming would be banned in the stadium so as to avoid bandwidth constraints. The stadium holds over 85,000 people and the NFL wanted them to be able to update their social networks and stay in touch, which is why it decided to block the game’s video streaming. Still, attendees decimated a huge amount of data, with Verizon’s subscribers topping the list by using 1.9 terabytes of data at the stadium on Super Bowl Sunday.

    Verizon’s Moto G Receives Android 4.4 KitKat

Verizons Moto G Receives Android 4.4 KitKatThe Moto G is Motorola’s latest handset, although in this case it is not one of the company’s highest end products. In fact one might consider the device to hover somewhere between low to mid-ranged. That being said it does come with an affordable price tag, making it a pretty value for money buy for those who want an almost-stock version of Android that gets the job done. Now the downside to the Moto G is that it was launched with an older version of Android, Jelly Bean, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but having the latest version is a good thing, right? Well the good news is that for Verizon owners of the Moto G, there have been reports that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is being pushed out to you as we speak.

The update will bring your version of the Moto G up to 173.44.20.en.US. For those who have yet to receive the notification informing them that an update is ready to be download, you can attempt to manually pull the update by going to your phone’s Settings, About Phone, System Updates, to see if the update can be downloaded. If it is not there, fret not because updates are typically rolled out in phases and we’re sure it will be your turn eventually.

Samsung Galaxy NotePro 12.2 For Verizon Leaked

Samsung Galaxy NotePro 12.2 For Verizon LeakedDuring CES 2014, Samsung took the wraps off a couple of new tablets, one of them being the Galaxy NotePro 12.2. The tablet has since gone up for pre-order via Office Depot where it will be priced at a whopping $850, but be prepared to fork out more money if you were hoping to get the tablet with Verizon’s LTE connectivity. Thanks to a recently leaked photo from @evleaks, it has been revealed that Verizon will be carrying the Samsung Galaxy NotePro 12.2 as well, and based on the branding, it looks like the tablet will allow for 4G LTE connectivity on Verizon’s network.

Apart from the new radios from Verizon and the carrier’s branding stamped on the back of the tablet, we expect the device to remain the same as it was. This means that would-be customers can look forward to a 12.2-inch Super Clear LCD display with a resolution of 2560×1600. It will also be powered by Samsung’s very own Exynos 5 Octa 5420 processor clocked at 1.9GHz, 3GB of RAM, an S Pen stylus, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat. The tablet is expected to be released on Verizon come 13th February and while pricing remains unknown, with the WiFi-only model retailing for $850, we’d hate to think how much the LTE version will cost.
