Lumia 930 Might Skip Microsoft BUILD Conference [Rumor]

Lumia 930 Might Skip Microsoft BUILD Conference [Rumor]According an earlier rumor, it was suggested that Nokia could be unveiling a couple of new phones at the Microsoft BUILD conference which is taking place on the 2nd of April. The phones in question are the Nokia Lumia 630 and the Lumia 930, but now according to a new rumor, it seems that the Lumia 930 might not be announced at BUILD after all.

This is according to the folks at NokiaPowerUser who claims that their sources have told them that this is because the Lumia 930 is simply not ready for unveiling yet. Perhaps they’re still testing the device or there might be production difficulties, but either way there is a chance the Lumia 930 will be a no-show at the event. (more…)

Nokia MixRadio First Global Music Streaming Service To Launch In China

Nokia MixRadio First Global Music Streaming Service To Launch In China

China has a reputation for keeping some of the most popular internet services out of its country. The sheer size of it makes it a very lucrative market. Even if they aren’t blocked, some services voluntarily keep away from the country. With global music streaming revenues on the rise, the People’s Republic seems like the market to target. That’s exactly what Nokia MixRadio is going to do, its actually the first global music streaming service to launch in the country that complements its Great Wall with a Great Firewall.

Nokia MixRadio will be available in China later this week. It hopes to target the over 80 percent of internet users in the country, a figure that comes in a tad above 500 million people, all of which access the internet through a mobile device. Its definitely one of the largest individual markets in the world for music streaming, larger than any of the other 31 markets MixRadio is available in.

If you’ve never heard about Nokia MixRadio, its a music streaming service that’s quite similar to Pandora, Spotify and the nascent Beats Music. Even though some of its competitors are well established, none of them service China, which means that MixRadio has got a huge advantage over all of them.

In order to push its music streaming service in the country, Nokia has tapped popular Chinese musicians like Khalil Fong, DJ Wordy and Tia Ray to curate playlists of hit local music.

Nokia X Sees 1 Million Pre-Orders In China

Nokia X Sees 1 Million Pre Orders In ChinaBack in February during MWC 2014, Nokia took the wraps off a trio of Android handsets called the Nokia X, Nokia X+, and the Nokia XL. All three devices weren’t high-end by any means, but were considered to be low-mid ranged, but that’s not a bad thing since this would essentially allow Nokia to compete with the likes of Samsung who has a slew of low-end handsets as well.

Interestingly enough despite the hype and anticipation, Nokia revealed that the Nokia X handset would not be seeing a release in key markets like the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. Instead it would be launching in countries such as Malaysia and China, just to name a few. (more…)

Nokia Power Keyboard Now Available On AT&T And Verizon

Nokia Power Keyboard Now Available On AT&T And VerizonThe Nokia Lumia 2520 which was released in October last year happened to be Nokia’s maiden attempt at a Windows RT tablet. The Nokia Lumia 2520 arrived with some pretty mean hardware specifications back in the day, where one could notice plenty of sleek design elements which were found on its range of Windows Phone powered Lumia handsets. Considering how the Nokia Lumia 2520 was touted to be a productivity tablet, the lack of a keyboard accessory due to delays might have hindered its success.

Microsoft Nokia Deal Cleared In China, Might Proceed Without Nokia IndiaNot everyone is a fan of Microsoft’s impending acquisition of Nokia. Last we heard, Korea would be joining China and India in opposing the deal, but according to a recent report from the Business Standard, it has been suggested that whatever dispute Microsoft and Nokia had with the Chinese authorities and companies has since been settled.

In fact the deal is expected to be closed in 20 days, but the report goes on to claim that the deal might close without Nokia India, at least for now. For those who haven’t been following the news, the deal was met with resistance by the Indian government who claims that Nokia owes them a huge sum of money in unpaid taxes. (more…)

Microsoft-Nokia Deal Met With Resistance In Korea

Microsoft Nokia Deal Met With Resistance In KoreaMicrosoft’s acquisition of Nokia has yet to be concluded, but it seems that not only is the deal facing opposition from China, but recent reports have indicated that the deal could be facing resistance over in Korea as well.

According to the reports, the Korea Electronics Association has recently submitted a petition to the FCC in which they claim that Microsoft will use Nokia’s patents to help keep local manufacturers in check. In a way this is not true because Microsoft will not be buying all of Nokia’s patents, but will instead be licensing them for a period of time. (more…)
