NVIDIA is seemingly going to make it easier to control your Shield TV with a smartphone. The company has developed a new Shield TV app for smartphones. It means that NVIDIA has finally heard customers who wanted to have a mobile app to control this device even though it ships with a physical remote. The app hasn’t been released as yet but enough evidence has surfaced to reveal that it’s now being tested.
NVIDIA is testing this new app which is currently labeled “unreleased” ahead of its proper release. The app will offer users a virtual mousepad, keyboard, and remote. It’s a bit different from the Android TV Remote Control app that Google already offers through the Play Store.
The company had previously mentioned that it had no plans of launching its own remote app for this Android TV-powered device but it has clearly decided to overturn its decision. This new app will let users access the virtual remote complete with the D-pad, Home, Back, and Start buttons. It even has a mousepad and keyboard to offer the familiar Shield TV input experience.
