LG G2 Camera Mod Brings 4K Video Recording To The Phone

If there was one thing we were surprised to find out about the LG G2 was its camera. LG phones haven’t exactly been known for their cameras (not that they’re bad, it’s just not a feature LG is known for), the LG G2’s camera proved to be pretty good. In fact its low-light performance was surprisingly decent, outshining phones like the iPhone.

Now the good news is that if you thought that the LG G2 camera could do with some improvement, you’re in luck because thanks to a camera mod, you won’t have to hope and wait for the LG G3 to bring those improvements that you have been asking for. (more…)

Gold LG G2 Surfaces For Sale On E-Commerce Website

Gold LG G2 Surfaces For Sale On E Commerce Website

Last year we saw a lot of manufacturers jump on the “gold” bandwagon. A number of major flagships were released in gold color, which is believed to appeal to masses in certain markets. Even Apple took the plunge, offering its flagship iPhone 5s smartphone in champagne color. We saw a similar move from HTC and Samsung, as well as various Chinese vendors. It appears that LG has succumbed to the temptation as well, and has offered last year’s flagship, the LG G2, in gold as well.

The listing for the gold LG G2 was spotted on e-commerce website ePrice, which is currently selling said smartphone in 16GB and 32GB flavors for $500 and $560 respectively, these units are SIM-free and aren’t locked to any mobile carrier. It warrants mentioning here that LG hasn’t officially announced that gold is now a color option in which the G2 is available in, the company has not commented on this report so far, hopefully it will speak up and let us know in the near future. It certainly wouldn’t surprise anyone to see LG launch a gold colored smartphone as well, the color seems to be quite popular so there’s really no harm in accommodating that consumer preference as well.

LG G2 Android 4.4 Update Apparently Rolled Out To A Fraction Of Owners In Korea

LG G2 Android 4.4 Update Apparently Rolled Out To A Fraction Of Owners In Korea

We recently reported that LG Korea had started to roll out the much awaited Android 4.4 KitKat update for its flagship smartphone in Korea. It appears that the company might have been conducting a soak test. Usually OEMs conduct soak tests with volunteers, they seed the update to a few people in order to be absolutely sure that there aren’t any issues with the update. Reports coming in from Korea suggest that the Android 4.4 update was only rolled out to five percent of all G2 owners in the country.

It is claimed that LG found no bug after the limited roll out of this update and that it has now given the go ahead to start releasing Android 4.4 KitKat for the remaining G2 owners in the country. There have been some reports from those who received the update that they’re noticing battery and browser problems on their devices, but the issues don’t appear to be plaguing everyone who received said update. LG Korea is expected to start releasing Android 4.4 to all G2 owners in Korea from next week. It is still not known when the company plans to finally release the hotly anticipated update in other major markets such as the U.S., certainly G2 owners Stateside would be itching to get their hands on some chocolatey goodness.

LG L Series II Receives Popular ‘Knock’ Feature Next Month

LG L Series II Receives Popular Knock Feature Next Month

LG announced today in Korea that its popular “Knock” feature, which was initially known as KnockON, is going to be standard in all key mobile devices in the future. The company also revealed that its L Series II smartphones are going to receive this feature sometime next month. The Knock feature debuted with LG G2, it allows users to turn the smartphone on and off by simply knocking twice on the display. Its a handy feature on the G2, considering the fact that its power button is located on the back. Knock for L Series II users will be rolled out through a global maintenance update in January, 2014.

The Korean manufacturer also introduced this feature in its G Pad 8.3 tablet. Its curved smartphone, the G Flex, also came with this feature because it too has the power button on the back. The company says that customer response to this feature was so positive that they made a version of Knock for the L Series II. Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics’ Mobile Communications Company, said that “Knock is distinctively an LG UX,” and that the company’s engineers found a way to improve the home button by turning the entire screen into one.

Nexus 5 Reportedly To Blame For LG G2′s Poor Sales

Nexus 5 Reportedly To Blame For LG G2s Poor SalesThe LG G2 is LG’s flagship smartphone of 2013 and while the handset is pretty decently specced, with a great display and awesome camera, it seems that it isn’t quite getting the love it should, at least according to reports. If the reports are to be believed, it seems that LG has only managed to sell 2 million LG G2 units to date, which is only a fraction of what they had originally intended to sell for 2013. LG had initially planned to sell 10 million units of the LG G2 but according to a report from DigiTimes, the company has only managed a fifth of those sales to date, and the reason isn’t because it’s a bad phone, but rather because it is due to the Nexus 5.

The Nexus 5 is Google’s latest Nexus device which is based on specs somewhat similar to the LG G2. It isn’t as powerful as the LG G2 or sport the same camera, but it is very decent, not to mention its asking price makes it a very attractive alternative to the LG G2 or any other smartphone available in the market today. So far apart from camera issues, the Nexus 5 has been met with generally positive reviews, giving customers little reason to go with the LG G2 unless the camera was their priority. In any case if the rumors are to be believed, LG could be working on a successor to the G2 in the form of the G3 which could debut as early as MWC 2014.

    LG G3 Fingerprint Scanner Rumored

    LG G3 Fingerprint Scanner Rumored

It has only been a couple of months since LG launched its 2013 flagship smartphone, the LG G2. The device has received rave reviews, its design, specifications and superb camera performance have all been praised. While it may seem too soon for rumors about a successor to start circulating, the first LG G3 rumors have already started making the rounds. The latest rumor coming in from Korea claims that LG G3 will have a fingerprint scanner much like the iPhone 5S and the HTC One Max.

An Anonymous LG official is cited in the local media report as saying that the company recently made the decision to include a fingerprint scanner in the upcoming G3 smartphone, and that it is “conducting a series of tests for the product.” It is also claimed that this smartphone will be designed to sync with the Korean manufacturer’s G-Arch smartwatch and its upcoming fitness wristbandOther rumored specifications of the G3 include a 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution display, a 16 megapixel rear camera and an octacore processor made by LG. It hasn’t been said when LG intends to release this device, but it is believed that the launch might take place earlier than anticipated due to “disappointing” sales of the LG G2. Perhaps the launch might take place at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in February, but for now, take all of this with a grain of salt.
