    Edwin Kee March 31, 2014

“Powered By Android” Boot Screen Required By Google (Rumor)It goes without saying that Google’s Android has a wider adoption rate compared to any other smartphone platform in the market at the moment, but how many folks out there are fully aware that they are making use of Google’s mobile operating system? I am quite sure that you who are more technically proficient would have come across some friends or family who claim that they are using a “Galaxy” operating system, or in some other cases, a “DROID”. Google might be looking into increasing the overall awareness of Android by requiring devices with Play Store access to feature the words “Powered by Android” as the device boots up.

Google Claims Their DNS Has Been Intercepted In Turkey

    Tyler Lee March 31, 2014

Google Claims Their DNS Has Been Intercepted In TurkeyAbout a week ago, Turkey announced that they would be blocking Twitter. Naturally this did not sit well with many of its residents and people overseas but apparently the ban did not help. In fact it actually increased the number of tweets, not to mention many found ways around the ban by downloading and using VPNs as well as utilizing Google’s DNS to bypass it.

Turkey has since lifted the ban but now that it has been revealed that Google’s DNS could be used to bypass bans, Google has found that Turkey has started to block Google’s DNS and that Turkish internet service providers are actually masquerading as Google DNS, reportedly to spy on its users. Tyler Lee March 31, 2014

Google Moves To Remove All Erotic Content From Play StoreWhile the Google Play app store isn’t exactly chock full of pornographic apps, there are some apps like the one pictured above that will deliver photos of sexy girls onto your phone, which some users might choose to use for wallpapers or other purposes.

Those photos aren’t exactly explicit but it seems that in an effort to make the Google Play Store safe and open to people of all ages, Google has recently updated their Developer Program policies which will essentially ban apps like the one pictured above. (more…)

Google Held Motorola Back From Creating A “True” Google Phone, According To Report

    Tyler Lee March 15, 2014

Google Held Motorola Back From Creating A True Google Phone, According To ReportWhen Google first bought Motorola Mobility, many were wondering what Google had planned for the company. Many assumed that Google would then start churning out its own phones instead of relying on third-parties like Samsung, HTC, and LG, and apparently that’s what Motorola had in mind as well.

However it seems that they were met with resistance from the likes of Google’s Larry Page and the Google engineering team which might have explained that apart from the Moto X and the Moto G, we did not really see anything else from the company. (more…)

    Tyler Lee March 14, 2014

ASUS Reportedly Drops Plans And Halts Sale Of Dual Booting Products [Rumor]Earlier this year at CES 2014, ASUS unveiled an interesting device called the ASUS Transformer Book Duet. What made it particularly interesting is that it could dual boot both Windows 8 and Android, sort of like giving users the best of both worlds.

However a follow-up report suggested that Google was putting pressure on ASUS to kill off the product because they did not like Android having to share the same device as Windows, especially since both are competing against one another. (more…)

Google Does Away With Banner Ad Experiment

    Tyler Lee March 14, 2014

Google Does Away With Banner Ad ExperimentIt is safe to say that banner ads can be pretty intrusive, but unfortunately that is just one of the ways websites survive, through these banner ads. In fact Google had recently attempted at introducing gigantic banner ads of their own on their search results page.

As you can see in the image above, a Google search for “southwest airlines” will result in a giant Southwest Airlines banner splashed across the top of the page. Naturally this is great for advertisers who want to ensure they get the top view and pushing other results further down the page, but thankfully that experiment has come to an end. (more…)
