Tyler Lee March 31, 2014

Google Moves To Remove All Erotic Content From Play StoreWhile the Google Play app store isn’t exactly chock full of pornographic apps, there are some apps like the one pictured above that will deliver photos of sexy girls onto your phone, which some users might choose to use for wallpapers or other purposes.

Those photos aren’t exactly explicit but it seems that in an effort to make the Google Play Store safe and open to people of all ages, Google has recently updated their Developer Program policies which will essentially ban apps like the one pictured above. (more…)

Pushbullet Mirrors Notifications From Android Phone To Your Computer

We have all wished for it at some point, that smartphones have the ability to automatically send notifications to our computers while we’re either too busy to too lazy to pick them up. There are a few apps out there that can make this happen, but Pushbullet takes it to a whole new level. Not only does it mirror notifications from an Android phone to the computer, as soon as they pop up on the smartphone, but it also lets users send files, links, lists, text and maps from the computer to the phone, this works the other way around as well.

WhatsApp’s Voice Calling Functionality Screenshots Leaked

    Tyler Lee March 15, 2014

WhatsApps Voice Calling Functionality Screenshots LeakedAt the moment WhatsApp is pretty much used for sending instant messages, pictures, videos, and voice clips. However if there is one feature missing from WhatsApp it would be voice calling, which is what apps such as Skype, Line, Viber, and even BBM all possess.

Now last we heard it is that WhatsApp could eventually get voice calls. This was revealed during MWC 2014 by WhatsApp’s co-founder, Jan Koum, who suggested that we might be able to expect the feature to be arriving in the second quarter of 2014. (more…)

    Tyler Lee March 14, 2014

Office For iPad Reportedly Good To Go, Awaiting Launch DateBack in 2011, we caught wind of the possibility that Microsoft could be bringing their Office productivity suites onto the iPad. This is a no-brainer actually given the ubiquitous nature of the iPad, but for whatever reason, Microsoft has yet to release the app fast forward three years later.

There have been conflicting reports suggesting that Office for the iPad would only be released as a touch-friendly version for Windows was released, but then later it was suggested that the app might even see a release in the first half of 2014. Now according to a report from Reuters, it has been revealed that Office for the iPad is actually good to go, and that they’re just waiting on Microsoft’s new CEO, Satya Nadella, to decide on a launch date. Apple Launches “Sharing Selfies” Section On iTunes App Store

    Tyler Lee March 14, 2014

Apple Launches Sharing Selfies Section On iTunes App StoreBefore the term “selfies” was coined, people were already doing it, although we guess now that the action comes with a name, we’re starting to see more of it these days. In fact the most popular selfie was courtesy of Ellen Degeneres who managed to take one during the Oscar’s show, where her post on Twitter soon became viral and beat out Obama’s “Four more years” tweet.

That being said, there are plenty of apps available that can help you take a selfie. In fact pretty much all smartphones these days come with a front-facing camera and the default app can help you take a selfie of yourself in a couple of seconds, but what if you wanted to share it? Which platforms might be best suited for a selfie? (more…)

Microsoft Was Interested In WhatsApp Too, According To Bill Gates

    Tyler Lee March 14, 2014

Microsoft Was Interested In WhatsApp Too, According To Bill GatesBack in February, Facebook announced that they would be acquiring WhatsApp, an instant messaging app for mobile devices. The deal was valued at $19 billion and safe to say that many were shocked by this news, along with how much Facebook was willing to pay for it.

So far we have only heard that Facebook is the only company that might have made a bid for the company, but apparently it seems that Microsoft was close to making a deal themselves as well, thanks to a recent interview that Bill Gates did with the Rolling Stone magazine. (more…)

    Tyler Lee March 13, 2014

Clones And Free To Play Titles Have Soured iTunes App Store Experience, According To ReportApple’s iOS platform is one that many developers opt to develop for first. Perhaps it’s more lucrative, perhaps the developers are iOS fans themselves, we’re not sure, but according to a recent report in the Edge, it has been suggested that due to clone games and free-to-play titles, the app store experience has been “soured”.

As gamers are probably well-aware of, there are plenty of cloned games in the App Store. In fact this was highlighted rather prominently after Flappy Bird had been removed, which then saw an influx of Flappy Bird-like clones hitting the App Store in a bid to capitalize on the craze of the game. Tyler Lee March 8, 2014

Rovio has been milking the Angry Birds franchise for a very long time now and it is understandable why. After all customers just keep buying the new games whenever they are released, so why would Rovio want to put an end to that, right?

So far we have seen Rovio attempt to break out from the typical Angry Birds setup through titles such as Bad Piggies and Angry Birds Go! which is a kart game featuring characters from the Angry Birds franchise. Now it looks like Rovio has a new Angry Birds game up their sleeve thanks to a teaser video Rovio has posted on YouTube (video above). (more…)
